Exeter Kit Car Show - 17/18th November 2007
At a little over a weeks notice we were invited to display a car and represent the NSCC at the Exeter Kit Car Show. On 17 / 18 November.
The organizers had already approached Pete Drury to ask if he would be willing to display his car. Having agreed Pete thought we should do something as a club.
At the NEC Nostalgia had unveiled a brand new stand. We had approached Nostalgia about the NSCC using the old one at shows and events next year to which they agreed.   Little did we know at the time of asking we would need it so soon.
We set about organizing a photographic display of  building a Nostalgia Classic Car. Quickest, simplest and easiest to use was David East’s extensive library of photographs of the building of the “Black Cat”.  Part of the problem was we had never used the old Nostalgia stand before so it’s construction and size were completely unknown. As guesstimate we selected about 50, A4 Sized, photographs including some from club events to illustrate our theme and the club in general.  What we didn't use would come in handy for another day

Over the weekend Pete Drury called to say his car had an engine problem and may not be available. To take the pressure off of Pete to get it fixed, we e-mailed club members to find a replacement vehicle.  To all those who replied offering help we sent our grateful thanks. Bill Morris won the reply race, living in Taunton was an added  bonus from an organization and logistics perspective.
Friday night  5:30 p.m. arrived, time to set up the display and the stand. Bill was already there and busy polishing the car.  The Nostalgia guys were there too and, as promised, had delivered the old stand. Faced with a puzzle of plastic plumbing pipes to make the frame and green cloth screens to make the display we were grateful for the assistance of Nostalgia to assemble it.  By 8:30 p.m.  we had a stand, a display of photographs in place and Bill’s XK20 as the main attraction.

Saturday, day 1 of the show,  The stand had survived the night intact . From the outset  we were busy. Bill’s car, in  classic British Racing Green, was an outstanding attraction. Eye catching, at several times during the day we attracted quite a crowd. All interested and eager to find out more about building a similar vehicle.  Before the doors opened we had given it a final polish with Hylite.  Great advantage of this polish is it doesn't leave any residue in the seams and seals of the vehicle ,  Bill must have done a good job advertising that the car would be at the show. Throughout the day  we had his friends and neighbours dropping by  saying “They had never seen the car this clean before Exeter is an interesting show. The clubs  were well represented.  The next stand to ours was the Speedsters Club . The club for Chesil and Porsche Spyder replica's with whom we have a mutual friend in Dave Bray, our New Zealand member.
An enjoyable show. See you at  Detling in April 2008 and  back here in November
