Hatch Beauchamp 2006

Classic Car Day

This years event at Hatch Beuchamp the weather could have been kinder, with a rain shower early on, and dull for the remaining part of the day, but we were dry and enjoying the ambiance of the day.

If you haven't experienced it, this really is an amazing event.. Based around the playing field in Hatch Beauchamp and opposite.the village pub. Exhibits overflow in to adjoining fields and other adjacent fields are used for public parking . Access for both visitors and public, is easy and well organised. Public parking is organised by the local Scout group for a voluntary donation to funds. Exhibitor parking and the whole event is organised by Thornfalcon Cars Ltd.

The whole day is relaxed with people picnicing beside their cars or partaking of the copious supply of bacon sandwiches and beverages from the cricket pavillion. Many exhibitors appear to set up camp and settle in for the "long haul" to spend the day chatting to spectators and other exhibitors alike.

This year the record no of exhibits was broken again. 715 classic cars were on display ranging from the Mini to the Rolls Royce with as many marques and shades of automobile you care to mention in between.
We managed to get 3 Nostalgia cars for display, Pete Drury and Gordon Muir's Classic 120's and Peter Webb's C type. Bill Morris couldn't attend in his 120 which had developed an engine problem, but supported us in spirit in his 1950 Bentley.

Pete Webb's "C" Type
The group of Nostlagia Cars, parked together in the centre of the display area, was certainly an attraction, always surrounded by a host of interested on lookers, most of whom had to be convinced they were not looking at a genuine 120 or "C" type

Once again this event provide an opportunity to talk to Simon Davis and Chris Boyer of Nostalgia Cars about aspects of building our cars. It was valuable for those still building our cars like Roger Hamblin and myself to look at the detail of a finished car and learn from the experience of others as well as hearing first hand about the experience of driving a Nostalgia sports car in continental trips this summer.
