Nostalgia's Open Day 2008
Celebrating 10 years of the company and 1 year in the New Factory.

One year on and we were back at the factory again, celebrating 10 years of Nostalgia.

The Friday weather forecast for the Open Day looked dreadful and undoubtedly deterred some visitors. In the event, the weather on the day turned out much better than expected and although cloudy and cool it was dry all day.

Nostalgia had gathered an impressive array of 4 "C" types outside, and a further example in the spray booth, reflecting the growing popularity of this the newest of the Nostalgia models.. Indeed many of the prospective customers specifically came for a demonstration run in these impressive vehicles, Chris Boyer was kept busy all day and later in the day Simon Davis had to join in using another vehicle just to keep up with the demand for a ride.

Throughout the day an increasing number of XK120's and140's joined the serried ranks of cars, including Colin Andrews XK 120, (chassis #009) used as an everyday vehicle and still looking magnificent after 9 years. Surprise guests were the members of the BMW club. I think that Nostalgia and the NSCC made them welcome and they went away impressed with what they had seen. .

The Nostalgia team , professional as always, were kept busy talking to customers and potential customers. The open day is always a good social occaision with club members, customers old and new, enjoying the family atmosphere over a cup of coffee and a slice of strawberry cake, or peering under a bonnet or inside a car to encourage new buiders, by recounting our experiences. It is fun to find out how far others have got with their build since we met a year ago, Keep at it guy's, when it is finished the feeling and the enjoyment of driving the car is fantastic.

No account of this excellent day would be complete without a thank you to Emma Davis and Andrea Boyer and all the ladies that suppied us with tea and coffee and a fabulous menu of home made rolls and cakes,. As last year the food was paid for by a doantion to charity. The proceeds from the food and the raffle raised £415 for Cancer Research and St Margaret;s Hospice.

The NSCC stand this year showed a range of the club merchandise. Thanks to Pete Drury for the loan of his laptop we were able to show the DVD of the Prescott Hill Climb, of the previous week, featuring an ascent up the hill by Norman Harding's XK120, driven by Chris Boyer. The camera man is still grinning from ear to ear after the experience. When asked about the experience all he could say was "B****y Good"

Thank you to everyone that supported us. See you next year when we hope to offer a mystery tour around Somerset amongst other things.
